OUR PHILOSOPHY
Being born in this region, among the Chianti Classico hills, you cannot fail to have the concept of beauty sealed in your DNA. It is that kind of beauty, so imperfectly perfect, that only nature can create but which men and women who live here have the duty to preserve, together with all the traditions and wisdom marked by deep furrows on their and our hands and on the hands of all the Tuscan people, who are - let's not forget - sons of the sons of the sons of the sons of Leonardo, Giotto, Michelangelo, Donatello, Brunelleschi, Vasari, Leon Battista Alberti ...
The words that we, at Terre di Perseto, hold tight and that identify us are, therefore, simply these ones: Tradition, Passion, Genuineness, Care, Resilience, Authenticity, Bonds, Territory.
Passion for things which are "well done", according to the Chianti Classico Tradition, with extreme Care and accuracy, for making a wine that expresses truthfulness and Territory, so that anyone who tastes it, wherever in the world he or she is, may be propelled back to Tuscany: to the real Tuscany of the Genuineness and of strong Bonds, so that he or she will feel in that wine all the Authenticity of a region inhabited by stubborn, obstinate and proud people, but also frank and sincere, ironic and generous ones, with a soul imbued with Resilience, because they know that this land is generous but inconstant, and that, in the face of difficulties, you just have to roll up your sleeves and, perhaps, come up with a few sarcastic jokes in order never to forget the intrinsic taste of living, which is profound, complex, enveloping and, at times, destabilizing, precisely like a glass of authentic Chianti Classico DOCG wine.
ABOUT TERRE DI PERSETO
Terre di Perseto” Winery & Farm is placed on the sweet Chianti Classico hills, between the cozy villages of San Casciano Val di Pesa and Greve in Chianti, in one of the most well-known areas for the production of Chianti Classico wines and extra-virgin olive oils. The Winery & Farm covers a total area of approximately 38 hectares (about 94 acres) of which 18 hectares are planted with vineyards, 7 are planted with olive trees and 13 are woods.
“Terre di Perseto” Winery & Farm was founded by Metello Sabatini at the end of the Fifties of the XX Century and it is today led by his grandsons, Niccolò and Daniel Martelli, who, with passion and dedication, are continuing the family traditions, producing wines with grapes coming exclusively from their own vineyards. “Since three generations we produce wines and extra virgin olive oils from our own vineyards and land, in the true Chianti Classico region, and we are proud to continue the family tradition in this beautiful region of Tuscany. Authenticity and hospitality are the keywords for whom we are and what we do”, says Niccolò.
Terre di Perseto's vineyards are ideally located as for sun exposure and soil quality (limestone/Alberese type), which is a very draining soil. They are placed at an altitude of 250-300 meters above sea level, facing South-West. The grapes grown are: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo, Syrah, Montepulciano, Pinot Nero, Pinot Grigio, Colorino and Trebbiano.
Terre di Perseto’s wines express the history of a traditional craftsmanship and family work and are characterized by elegance, complexity, aromatic richness and extreme pleasantness on the palate. The company focuses on quality and excellence in order to offer authentic and unique products, while respecting the environment. The Chianti Classico DOCG wines and the Extra Virgin Olive Oils by Terre di Perseto have received prestigious international awards and prizes over the years.
On 2010, Niccolò and Daniel Martelli undertook a total renovation of the vineyards and of the cellars, in order to innovating the production processes through the adoption of integrated agricultural technologies and techniques.
Harvests are exclusively carried out by hand to allow a careful grapes' selection. The winemaking processes are carried out according to the traditions of the Chianti Classico region, respecting all the rules laid down by the corresponding production disciplinary, which establishes the requirements that a wine must fulfill in order to bear the denomination "D.O.C.G. Chianti Classico" (Chianti Classico’s Denomination of Controlled & Guaranteed Origin). All the wines are vinified in stainless steel vats and/or concrete vats; they are then refined and aged in steel vats or French oak barrels, according to the type of wine wished to produce.
Terre di Perseto produces a refined selection of DOCG products (with a Denomination of Controlled & Guaranteed Origin), including Chianti Classico DOCG wines, Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva wines, as well as Red and Rosé of Tuscany IGT wines (with Typical Geographic Indication of Tuscany), extra virgin olive oils and a DOP Chianti Classico extra virgin olive oil (‘DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil’ means that it has a Designation of Protected Origin, which only applies to productions where the entire production cycle, from the raw material to the finished product, is carried out within a well-defined geographical area and therefore cannot be produced outside of it), Vin Santo DOC dessert wine (with Denomination of Controlled Origin), Spumante Extra Brut (White Sparkling Wine Extra Dry), Grappas/Schnapps made from Chianti Classico grapes and balsamic table dressings. Some years ago, Terre di Perseto started to grow berries (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, tayberries, strawberries) for the production of jams and of a Blackberry Liqueur.
